Heavy Duty Lathes

Machine tools are considered heavy duty if their weight is 30 tons or more. Tendencies of their development broadly correspond to those of lighter machine tools, however there are some peculiarities. Heavy duty machine tools are designated for a long-term use.
 
Heavy duty machine tools are designed with a vast reserve in the most important characteristics (way unit loading, screw gear unit loading, combination of loads and speeds and etc) determining machine reliability.
 
Heavy duty lathes are used to perform various turning works. Machining of cast iron and steel components can be carried out with high-speed steel tools or with carbide-tipped tools.
 
Construction rigidity, high main drive power and high rotational speed of spindle allow performing rough and finish machining fully using carbide-tipped tool capabilities.
 
Heavy duty lathes can carry out: straight turning; taper turning using the compound rest set at ½ the included angle or by compound feed method; metric and inch screw threads cutting
